Project title Movement and Field of View – Intersection Point and Densifying St Albans
Project description By researching how individuals perceive spaces when entering, this project identifies numerous ‘desire lines’ and ‘fragmentations’, contributing to the formation of the main part of the proposal: the residential element. The design follows the needs of both commuters and residents while providing a new monument for St Albans. The proposal of two towers is designed to evoke a sense of home. Built using offsite manufacturing techniques, it also aims to set a precedent for densifying a city in an efficient and sustainable manner.
Tutor citation Henrique’s proposal demonstrates a mature approach to addressing critical architectural issues prevalent in the UK, such as the housing crisis and the decline of the high street. It synthesises responses into a well-proportioned, human-scale resolution. Luigi Pintacuda

Project title WakeUP Farmers: Towards a New Agricultural Estate
Project description This project takes place in Mauritius, where sugar cane is the dominant crop. Nearly 52 per cent of the island’s land is dedicated to farming but there is a decline in small-scale farming and a lack of interest from younger generations. The project aims to revive small-scale farming using agroecological practices while fostering community development and boosting local economies. The proposal is divided into two sections: a space for farmers to exhibit and sell their products; and industrial units dedicated to manufacturing insulation panels using sugar cane bagasse, known as ‘sugarcrete’.
Tutor citation By promoting co-ownership in the revitalisation of small-scale farming agroecologically in Mauritius, Lukshay envisions a future where the local farming community plays an active role in decision-making and resource management. Ian Owen
